GWEN STEFANI ANNOUNCES HELP FOR JAPAN RELIEF EFFORT

Gwen Stefani donated $1,000,000 today to Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund to help in the relief and recovery effort in Japan.

“I’ve been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture. The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years.”

– Gwen Stefani

Gwen has not only made a personal donation but created a mechanism whereby her fans will be able to participate in her efforts. A charity auction will be announced next week where fans can bid on the chance to join Gwen at a special fundraiser in Los Angeles. Also available next week, a limited edition Harajuku Lovers T-shirt designed by Gwen will be available through nodoubt.com with 100% of proceeds benefiting the relief effort in Japan. Plans for further fundraising initiatives are also in current discussion.

Those who wish to participate more immediately may donate now at www.savethechildren.org

Gwen Stefani’s History with Japan
Gwen Stefani has been inspired by Japan since she first toured there with No Doubt in 1996. Not only did she immediately fall in love with the country and it’s people, Gwen found a special connection to a district in Tokyo known as Harajuku, an area that thrives on creativity, music, art and fashion. The youth culture of the Harajuku district have been a constant muse for Gwen, inspiring both her clothing line called Harajuku Lovers and the song “Harajuku Girls.” Throughout her career Gwen has borrowed heavily from Japanese culture for many of her creative endeavors.

Gwen Stefani: ‘No New Album For A While’

Gwen Stefani has warned fans of No Doubt not to expect a new album for “a while” – because most of her band members are busy with new babies.

The group released its last studio album, Rock Steady, in 2001, and despite spending much of 2010 working on new tracks, the blonde beauty admits they aren’t nearing a finished project because of their other commitments.

Stefani is busy with her fashion line L.A.M.B. and guitarist Tom Dumont and bassist Tony Kanal have both recently fathered a child.

She tells the Wall Street Journal, “We’ve been doing a record all year; 10 songs have been recorded. When this (new fashion line) is done I’ll probably write a few more songs. I don’t know when it’ll come out, but you never know what can happen.”

“My band takes a weird process as well. It takes so long. And all of them just had babies, so it’ll be a while.”

Gwen Stefani is the Gorgeous New Face of L’Oreal Paris

I tweeted about this a month ago and now its official – Gwen Stefani is the Gorgeous New Face of L’Oreal Paris!

Gwen Stefani For L’Oreal Paris

Gwen Stefani is adding one more accomplishment to her growing list with the announcement to PEOPLE that she’s inked a deal as the next face of L’Oréal Paris. “I can’t believe I get to be one of the L’Oréal Paris girls,” says the star, “I love playing dress up, on stage or shooting videos, it’s always been one of my favorite parts of being in a band.” Of joining the brand’s stable of A-listers like Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria and Beyoncé Knowles, Stefani says, “To get to work with such a modern, talented group of people is really exciting. I’m a lucky, lucky girl.” Aptly enough for a star who’s made red lips her signature, Gwen’s first campaign will be for the brand’s Infallible Le Rouge lip color. And while she’s offered us a first look at an image from the set of her shoot (above), you’ll be able to catch her full commercial in just a few days, when it debuts during this Sunday’s Golden Globes
